About Rotector

A volunteer detection project for Roblox and Discord. Our system finds accounts that endanger children; our reviewers decide what each flag means, and stand behind it.

Our Story

The story behind Rotector's mission

When I was younger, I had an encounter with a predator online. I was lucky enough to recognize the warning signs and get away quickly, but that experience stayed with me. Not everyone is that fortunate, and I knew that firsthand.

Years later, when I looked at how community safety work was being done on Roblox, what struck me was what was missing: consistent standards, evidence you could actually check, and an appeals process that treated being wrong as a normal thing to fix rather than an accusation to defend. Without those, even good intentions produce decisions nobody can trust, and I understood why Roblox had such a negative impression of community moderation efforts.

When you're trying to solve a real-world problem that affects millions of children, that gap matters. I knew things had to be done with transparency, with a record behind every decision, and with a genuine focus on protecting users rather than building clout or settling scores.

So in late 2024, I started building Rotector. Not to replace Roblox's moderation, but to bridge the gap between when predators are active and when they finally get banned. That's when victims are created, and that's exactly what we're here to prevent.

In August 2026 we shut down the browser extension and the public API, and our findings moved to Rayward, which carries the work of several detection projects rather than only ours. Handing a lookup tool to anyone who wanted it turned out to be the thing we got wrong: people treated flags as accusations, and we could not take the tool back. Rotector itself did not change. The reviewers, the queue, the appeals and the case work all carry on here, and deciding what a flag means is still our job.

Meet the Team

These are the people who read the queue. Every flag we publish was confirmed by somebody on this page, and every appeal is answered by one of them.
