Terms of Service
The rules for our findings, our appeals process, and the parts of Rotector you can take part in
Last updated: September 6, 2026
Agreement to These Terms
These Terms cover the parts of Rotector you can choose to take part in: the appeals process, the volunteer programme, our Discord, our published statistics, and this website. By using any of them, you agree to these Terms.
Being flagged is not something you agreed to. If you are here because an account was flagged, you have not entered a contract with us and nothing in these Terms asks you to. Your position is governed by data-protection law, and it is set out in the Privacy Policy, not here.
Important: Rotector is a community-driven initiative and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Roblox Corporation or Discord Inc.
What Rotector Is
Rotector is a volunteer-run detection project. It consists of:
- A detection system that identifies Roblox and Discord accounts participating in conduct that endangers children.
- A review queue in which people confirm, correct, or reject what the system proposes.
- An appeals process for anyone who believes a flag about them is wrong.
- Published statistics about our own work.
- A community Discord and a volunteer programme.
Our findings are made available to approved organisations through Rayward, a separate service that carries findings from several detection projects. Rotector does not own or operate Rayward, and Rayward has its own terms. We do not control who Rayward approves, and approval by Rayward is not something these Terms grant.
Our Findings and How They May Be Used
Our classification output is a safety signal, not an accusation. Accuracy is high but not perfect; both false positives and false negatives are possible. We make no representation that any finding is accurate, complete, or current.
You should not treat a flag as a finding of fact, and you should not treat the absence of a flag as a guarantee that an account is safe. Decisions about real-world action, such as banning a player, contacting a parent, or involving law enforcement, should be made by people exercising their own judgement.
If you ban, restrict, publish, or otherwise act against somebody because of a flag, that decision is yours alone. We provide a signal. You choose what to do with it, and you answer for that choice.
You may not present our findings as criminal allegations, compile them into public lists of individuals, or use them to harass, stalk, dox, or target anybody. This applies whether you received a finding from us directly or through Rayward.
The Rotector name, logo, branding, classification algorithms, compiled databases, and analysis output remain ours. You may not pass off our name or branding as your own, and you may not republish our database in bulk. Fair use of our name and branding for journalism, review, education, and awareness is permitted.
Taking Part
You must be at least 13 years old to join our Discord or apply to a volunteer role. If you are between 13 and 18, you may take part with the knowledge of a parent or guardian. There is no minimum age to have a flag about you corrected or erased, and we will never refuse a rights request because of the age of the person making it.
Volunteer roles are unpaid. Applying does not create an employment relationship, and we may decline any application without giving a reason. If you are given access to review material, you may use what you see only to carry out reviews. You may not republish it, share it outside the team, or use it to contact, confront, or identify anybody. Those obligations continue after you leave.
While taking part, you may not:
- Use anything we provide to harass, stalk, dox, or target any individual, regardless of their flag status.
- Submit appeals or reports you know to be false, or open appeals on accounts you do not control.
- Impersonate another person, or misrepresent your relationship with Rotector or any other organisation, including claiming to act on our behalf.
- Automate, scrape, or issue volumes of requests against this site or the statistics endpoint that interfere with its operation.
- Republish our data in bulk, or present a copy of it as your own dataset.
We may restrict, suspend, or revoke your access to the Discord or the volunteer programme at any time, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, misuse our systems, or where required by law. We do not need to prove a breach to a criminal standard before acting on it, and we revoke reviewer access immediately where we believe it has been misused.
You can stop taking part at any time. To delete data we hold about you, see "Your Rights" in the Privacy Policy. Ending your participation does not remove a flag; that is what the appeals process is for. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive, including the findings-use restrictions, disclaimers, and limitation of liability, survive.
Appeals
Anyone may appeal a flag concerning an account they control. Appeals are made by email to contact@rayward.app. The process, the verification we ask for, and what happens to an overturned flag are described in the Privacy Policy.
Opening an appeal is not a guarantee of any particular outcome. We will tell you what we decided and why, but where a full explanation would expose detection methods or another person's data, we will say so rather than disclose it.
Repeatedly reopening a settled appeal without new information, or using the appeals route to abuse the team, may result in that route being closed to you. Closing it does not remove your rights under data-protection law, which you may still exercise by email.
You retain ownership of content you submit to us, including appeals and reports. By submitting, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that content for operating Rotector. You confirm that the content is yours to submit and does not infringe on anyone else's rights.
Disclaimers
EVERYTHING WE PROVIDE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not guarantee uptime, availability, or that anything we operate is free from bugs or errors.
Our published statistics are provided for information, without warranty as to accuracy or availability, and may change or stop being published at any time. You may cite them with attribution to Rotector. You may not present them as an official figure of Roblox Corporation or Discord Inc.
See "Our Findings and How They May Be Used" above for the accuracy position, which is the disclaimer that matters most here.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ROTECTOR, ITS DEVELOPERS, REVIEWERS, MODERATORS, AND CONTRIBUTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF ANYTHING WE PROVIDE, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, REVENUE, OR REPUTATION, REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO USD 100.
Nothing in this section limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; where that is the case, the limitations above apply only to the extent permitted.
Disputes and General Terms
If you have a dispute with us, email us first at contact@rotector.com and give us a fair chance to resolve it. We will work with you in good faith.
Nothing in this section overrides any rights you have under the consumer protection or data protection laws of your country of residence, or your right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
We may change, restrict, or discontinue any part of what we provide at any time. We have done this before and we will do it again where we judge that continuing would cause more harm than stopping. Where a change materially affects people who rely on something, we will give what notice we reasonably can. We may update these Terms when what we do changes or when guidance from regulators makes a clarification useful. Changes take effect on posting with a revised "Last Updated" date.
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the rest continue in full force.
No waiver: Our failure to enforce a right under these Terms is not a waiver of that right.
Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Rotector concerning the parts of Rotector you take part in.
Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms. We may assign ours in connection with a merger, reorganisation, or sale of assets.
